IMWE-Website Development & Inventory Management

I was able to build this website from scratch in accordance with the brand guidelines I highlighted in my Marketing section. This website tells the story of the women behind this brand and all products are available to ship anywhere in the country.

I love incorporating personal touches throughout the website. The background picture in this clip was taken by a classmate while we were in Rwanda.

With anywhere from 8-40 different fabric patterns for each product, I’ve spent the past few months finding the most efficient and user friendly way to display the products on our shop page. Instead of having a broad product category with 40 different colors to choose from, products are separated by product type and color families. The picture above shows a few of our grocery bag color families. When you click on ‘choose options’, you will have 5-7 patterns in that color family to choose from.

When this brand began selling products (January 2022), we only had 100 unique products. I was able to use Excel to build an inventory system from scratch (left picture). By May, we expanded our product line to over 1,100 products. In order to optimize my time, I turned to online platforms such as Wix, Square, and Shopify and explored which option would be best for IMWE. Shopify proved to be the best platform for us due to its ability to sell products online, in-person, and through Instagram. I currently oversee all inventory management in Shopify and constantly monitor all of our numbers to ensure all products are accounted for.
